Spices and Such

Many people are taught that the flavor in their meals must come from animal based proteins, dairy and fats, but there are many other areas of the food world that bring great taste. Think of the amazing array of fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, beans and grains, not to mention spices, herbs, citrus and more that are naturally flavorful and animal product free. Learning about flavor profiles and what different additions do to different dishes is a great way to teach yourself how to cook off the cuff, without a recipe, and take advantage of what is best at the market with confidence. Chef AmyLeo will guide you as you work together to prepare several dishes that will give your palate a workout and open up the vast world of plant based flavors. Using plant-based fats, citrus, vinegars, different salts, mushrooms and more, you’ll see just how easy it is to coax complex flavors out of plant-based ingredients for delicious plant-based meals. This class is vegan and gluten free, and has hands on opportunities as desired. Pre-registration is required. On the menu:
· Create Your Own Lentil Pate, Two Ways
· Choose Your Own Adventure Vegetable Soup, Two Ways
